The Western Cape Province is bordered by the Atlantic and Indian Ocean as well as the Northern and Eastern Cape Provinces. 14 % of South Africa's GDP is produced in the Western Cape. The Western Cape experiences dry summers and winter rainfall. Average tempreatures in the Western Cape are 16° to 32° C (60° to 90° F) in the summer and from 7° to 18° C (44° to 64° F) in the winter.
The most prominent city in the Western Cape is Cape Town (The Mother City), which is overshadowed by a magnificent mountain called Table Mountain. Cape Town has the second busiest port in South Africa. Robben Island is located on the outside of Cape Town. Former South Africa president, Nelson Mandela spent time in prison on Robben Island, which is now a world heritage site.
